Microsoft announced yesterday the next version of SQL Server, called SQL Server 2017, in the Microsoft Data Amp event. The first preview of SQL Server 2017 was also released as Community Technical Preview (CTP) 2.0 and is available for Linux and Windows.
The CTP 2.0 Preview comes with several new capabilities that will help developers bring more innovation to their projects, even when they’re working on Linux devices.
In its official blog , Microsoft said, “In this preview, we added a number of new features, including the ability to perform advanced analysis using Python in a highly scalable and parallel way, the ability to store and analyze graphics data and other capabilities that the Help manage SQL Server for high performance and uptime, including the Adaptive Query Processing family of intelligent database features and summarizable online indexing. ”
In addition, according to C # Corner , the company revealed that the new SQL Server 2017 achieved the world record in the TCP-H 1TB data warehousing workload when run on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and HPE Prolliant server hardware. With this revelation, the company simply described the high-performance feature of SQL Server 2017 and called SQL Server “the best database for its mission-critical application and data warehouse workloads.”
